Scope and Contents

Five portfolios that contain a large array of original drawings, woodcut prints, publication proofs, posters, and other items; all of which either feature artwork produced by Roger Law or relate in some fashion to his professional activities with various publications, organisations and companies. There are also some items that were made in collaboration with Deirdre Amsden.

Scope and Contents

Artwork produced by Roger Law in a professional capacity. The material present has been split into three main sections: art portfolios, The Establishment nightclub murals/giant cartoon strips, and woodcuts.

Scope and Contents

This series divides into four parts: L1-6 contain original papers of governments and other non-commercial organisations; L7-10 consist of maps, plans, photographs, artwork and newspapers, mainly relating to Jardine, Matheson & Co., but including some general material; L11-13 contain secondary material regarding the company and its archive; and L14-16 are miscellaneous papers and artefacts unconnected to the other series in the archive.

Dates: circa 1770-1969 (mostly nineteenth and twentieth centuries)
Conditions Governing Access: From the Fonds: Access to the collection is subject to special conditions and is at the discretion of Matheson and Co. Ltd, part of the Jardine Matheson Group. A statement of the conditions and an application form are available in the Manuscripts Reading Room. Printed copies of the form are available by post (please contact the University Library). An electronic version can also be found at https://www.lib.cam.ac.uk/files/jm_application_form_2024_02.pdf. Records described in the catalogue as being in a bad condition are in a fragile state that precludes them being made available to readers. Access is generally available to documents dated up to 1969. Access to some earlier records may be restricted under the terms of the Data Protection Act, 1998.

Scope and Contents

Papers relating to the activities of consulates, comprised mainly of orders, circulars and notices. The series features consuls of Great Britain, Denmark, Germany, Hawaii, the Netherlands, Peru and the United States based mainly in China and Hong Kong, but also in Hawaii, Japan and Sourabaya. There are some documents in Danish, Dutch, French, Hawaiian and Portuguese.
